NCP car park - work in progress

(colour added)

There are big changes afoot in the centre of Croydon as the main shopping centre will be redeveloped over the coming years.  I thought it would be a good personal project for this year to try and work my round the area making sketches before the bulldozers move in.
You can see the plans for the area in this short video from the developers - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8alZDU1Epfc

balcony at 'Galeries Lafayette'

This must be one of the nicest views from a Starbucks coffee shop - perched by one of the beautiful Art Nouveau balconies at the iconic Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

Car Booty

A car boot sale with a difference today on the Southbank in London – all the vehicles were pre-1989 Classic cars.  The first one I drew, as I later found out from the owner, was a Volvo Amazon from 1970.  I added watercolour at home and probably not done justice to it’s lovely colour as I think it was more blue – should have made better colour notes.  I was surprised when the owner also told me that he used it a lot, even to pull his caravan!  I had visions of all these beautiful old cars being carefully preserved in the garages of their proud owners.  The event was organised by Vintage, the brainchild of Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and you can find out more about future events at http://www.vintagefestival.co.uk/

Crystal Palace goes upmarket!

Despite the overcast weather, there was a lovely atmosphere at the Crystal Palace Food Market today.  Billed as ‘locally sourced, locally sold’ there were a variety of stalls selling fruit & vegetables, meat, cheese, cakes and a host of takeaway tasties.

Crystal Palace Food Market is on every Saturday 10am - 3pm at Haynes Lane, London, SE19 3AP and you can find out more at  http://www.crystalpalacefoodmarket.co.uk/
