Living the high life
Three views from the incredibly beautiful Tivoli Palacio de Setsais Hotel on Sintra. We stayed for just the one night but it was probably the most gorgeous place I've ever stayed in, or am ever likely to stay in!
A few photos below of the hotel itself:

Demo at Docas
Saturday morning and I met up with Mario Linhares and a group of local urban sketchers to show some of my sketchbook and give a quick demonstration of my technique. It was a little daunting but I was made to feel very welcome by the group. I also took with me some small booklet to hand out with details of how I draw buildings.
If you would like a copy, there is a downloadable PDF which prints onto an A3 sheet and then folds down to a small booklet. Click on the link below:

Before having dinner, we stopped at Camoes Square for a quick sketch of the statue of the famous Portuguese writer.

Ascensor da Bica
Part lift, part tram, the Bica funicular was a great way to view part of the city. I sat and drew at the top of the hill, looking down to the sea.

Santa Justa lift
After drawing the Arco Rua Augusta, I moved along the pedestrianised street to the Santa Justa Lift, which is tucked away in a nearby street. Built by Raul Mesnier, a student of Eiffel, its a very elegant structure which serves a very practical purpose of getting up and down the steep hills of Lisbon.
Paula, our guide for the trip, took this photo of me drawing.

Senhora do Monte
On the second morning, Paula and Antonio took me up to Senhora do Monte where there was a great view across the city.
We then moved down to 'Rossio', the main square and I managed to draw part of a former palace before the rain started falling.

First impressions
I was met at the airport by Paula, my lovely guide for the week and Antonio, who drove us around for the Sketch Tour Portugal.
Above is the first drawing made in the late afternoon of the first day in Praca do Comercio in the centre of Lisbon.
