Blowing my own trumpet!

I had a nice surprise this morning when I received a complimentary copy of Thomas Thorspecken's new book, 'Urban Sketching - the complete guide to techniques' in the post. One of my drawings is featured in the book, which is very exciting but I was most pleased about the fact that I'm listed in the credits between renowned urban sketchers Lapin and Liz Steel.  This will totally go to my head!

This is the drawing that is featured, made at our street party in 2012 celebrating the Diamond Jubilee.

The book is published by Barron's Educational Series and you can read more about it here at http://barronseduc.stores.yahoo.net/1438003412.html#.Uw88wSrKc4M

Sketching at London Fashion Week 2014

The courtyard of Somerset House has become the regular venue for London Fashion Week.  I’ve drawn there before and find it completely fascinating.  The courtyard area fills up with a host of fashionistas parading around whilst photographers clamour to take snaps of most outlandishly dressed.

The Vivienne Westwood show
was due to take place at the
end of the afternoon so there
was a good turnout even
though the weather was chilly.
It’s the place to see and be seen
for designers and art students alike.
A lot of fun fur – on hats, wraps and coats.
Sunglasses and red lippy
are always popular.

The guitarist

Instead of a life model this week, we had a guitarist as a model.  She was great to draw, singing and playing beautifully too.  Very difficult not to sing along with the songs!

Life from a window

I made some colour notes on this drawing of the view from a window of the Fairfield Halls in Croydon so I'll post the colour version later.
