light bulb moment

It's the time of year when the beautiful magnolia flowers bloom - the shape always reminds me of light bulbs.

work in progress

I'm working on a watercolour drawing of the Town Hall in Brussels, drawn from photographs taken before Christmas.  Hopefully it will be finished for tomorrow's blog post.

Open Studio

I recently visited the studio of Liam O'Connor who is currently the 'Exhibition Road Drawing Resident' at the V & A in London, recording and responding to, the building work in progress.  It was both interesting and inspiring and you can read a little about his work here -  http://www.vam.ac.uk/content/articles/e/exhibition-road-drawing-resident-liam-oconnor/

spring flowers

Having painted so many crocus on my bus sculpture before Christmas, I was looking out for some real ones.  These were spotted at the bottom of a tree by the road in sunny South London.

Wish you were here

I took part in a 'drawing walk' around South Norwood recently organised by Turf Projects, who have been running a series of events under the 'Stones of Croydon' banner.  It was really thought provoking and the artist who led the talk had an interesting perspective on life.
You can find out more about the group and their future activities on their website

Durham Cathedral (scanned)

My drawing that I made in Durham Cathedral last week scanned, with an attempt at adding tone with Photoshop.
