Break out the strawberries!

Strawberries picked from the garden on the day that Andy Murray becomes the Wimbledon Men’s Champion, 77 years after the last British winner Fred Perry.

Number 2

Lots of lovely stylish prints, textiles and homeware in a fabulous setting by roddy&ginger.  I sketched the studio area with shelves neatly stacked with pots of specially mixed inks and paint.  There are special Artist Trail prices on lots of items and if you can’t get along in person, take a look at the website at http://www.roddyandginger.co.uk/index.html

Number 5 

The ‘Architects collective’ are showing prints, paintings, photographs and 3D work in a lovely house and garden.  I sketched the sculpture made by Daniel Goldberg from old palettes.  Set amongst the flowers in the garden, it gave the impression that the fish were swimming through a brightly coloured coral reef.

St Bartholomew’s church is exhibiting ‘Angels - a unique collection of 60 life-size figures based on classic depictions of angels in art.’  You can find out more about the collection here http://www.stbartssydenham.org.uk/dynamic/Angels.php

While I was there, rehearsals were underway for an upcoming concert ‘A Gallery of Song’, happening on Friday July 12^th as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival.  Billed as a ‘multi-media recital of songs and instrumental music, you can find out more here

Wandle Park

Wandle Park, just outside the centre of Croydon, is being officially opened this Saturday July 6^th after a major refurbishment.   There is a free celebration event aimed at families and you can see the full timetable here http://www.croydon.gov.uk/contents/departments/leisure/pdf/wandle-revival-programme

People of all ages were making the most of the deckchairs and free live screening of the tennis in Wimbledon town centre today. I sketched as Laura Robson played Kaia Kanepi to try and reach the quarterfinals.
